WILD WILD WEST

Remember when it used to be a treat to see cranky movies set in Victorian times featuring madcap inventors and their unlikely machines, usually based on Jules Verne novels? * If you approach this film in the same frame of mind that you had in your pre-jaded youth then you might just find it passably entertaining even though Kenneth Branaugh is one of the stars.

If you can’t remember when it used to be a treat to see cranky movies set in Victorian times featuring madcap inventors and their unlikely machines, usually based on Jules Verne novels, then I have to tell you that this film is every bit as crap as all the other reviewers have indicated. I just had to watch it whilst being a prisoner on plane.

*Our younger readers are exempted from answering this question. In fact it will make no sense to you at all unless you saw reruns on Sunday afternoon TV.
