CAULDRON OF CHANGES - COSTUME SHOOT LINKS

During the development process for Cauldron of Changes we decided to ask students from the Fashion Department at the University of Derby to design costumes for the key characters in the show. Three students did a fantastic job of the designs. They all excelled when it came to the goth costume for Lucy in particular. There seems to be something about the goth style of dress that appeals to everyone. It was difficult to pick out the best but in the end we went with the designs of Amber Ryder-Morris.

I'll be posting some of the Cauldron of Changes photographs here in album style in due course but in the meantime you can see them by following this link to my flickr account where you will find a whole set of photos.

I've nothing but praise for Amber's costume designs for Cauldron of Changes though I will say that, because the budget we set was small, she had to do the best she could within the money available. I'd love to have had enough money to have made the costumes as you will see them in the design drawings so bear in mind that what you see in the photos is a compromise. My personal favourite is the goth costume designed for Lucy. Whilst Maya's scanty costume is undoubtedly very sexy it turned out somewhat raunchier than I envisaged. My original description of Maya's dress style was that she looked like a forties movie star.

Thanks to all the models who gave their time freely to pose for these photographs for Cauldron of Changes but again bear in mind that the physical types we used here aren't necessarily how they would be cast for a real production. Cerys, for instance, is older in the script and Owen I would see as being more gaunt than the model we used here.
